About POD
We’re a community-owned car-sharing club directed by local volunteers.
We’ve 5 easy-to-use, automatic cars, around Hebden Bridge and Todmorden.
The cars are efficient hybrids. (They use batteries to reduce emissions in town, but never need to be plugged in.)
We have compact hatchbacks and larger estates to choose from.
There is no fixed upper age limit. Drivers need to be at least 19 years old. For young or inexperienced drivers (less than 25 years old, OR UK licence held for less than 2 years), there is an increased “excess” on the insurance.
As a not-for-profit Community Benefit Society, we’re here to serve the community. We’re committed to behaving ethically, in the ethos of co-operation, sharing resources locally, and improving access to environmentally-conscious options for everyone.
Many of our users have told us they’ve been able to give up their own car, with an associated saving in costs, and reduced pressure on parking spaces in our towns! And those cars being given up are often older and more polluting too. We’ve calculated that such a user typically halves their car-related carbon emissions.
Emergency Guide
If you’ve had an incident, damage or breakdown, this is the place to find guidance and help.
This Guide is also in the glovebox of each car.
User Guide
The User Guide explains everything you need to know about booking and using the POD cars!
You’ll find a similar User Guide in the glovebox of each car, with info specific to that car.
